Steps to Upgrade the Linksys Firmware:

After downloading the Linksys firmware, if you want to upgrade the firmware follow the steps explained below. The following Linksys router support post presents instructions on the steps to upgrade Linksys firmware on the device/router.

Step 1:

Access the router’s web-based setup page.

NOTE:  If you encounter a “502 Error” or Bad Gateway Error, you can perform a manual firmware upgrade by bypassing Smart Setup to solve the issue.

Step 2:  

Click on Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Step 3:

Click the Browse… button.

Step 4:

Locate and select the file that you have downloaded then click Open.

NOTE:  If you are using Mac OS X®, click the Choose button.

Step 5:

Click the Start Upgrade button.

A warning prompt stating not to interrupt the upgrade will appear.

Step 6:

Click Continue when it prompts that the upgrade has been successful.

Step 7:

Power cycle the router by unplugging it from the power outlet for 10 seconds, then re-plug it.
