Unable to connect to configuration page of your Linksys Router

Every Linksys router have a built-in configuration page which allows you to change any setting related to your router easily and instantly. It is easy to use and is always available. But due to some issues you may not be able to access the configuration page sometimes.In this Linksys Technical Support article, we will discuss how Unable to connect to configuration page of your Linksys Router.

You may not be able to access your router’s configuration page for many reasons. Some of them are:

  •         Incorrect username and password
  •         Improper connection
  •         Incorrect IP address
  •         Browser issue
  •         Firewall blocking the configuration page
  •         Defective router

 

The possible solutions are:

Check the cable connection

Check the cable you are using are working properly and are connected properly. Check the LEDs on the router. The Ethernet LED of the port to which you have connected the cable should light up. If they are not, use another Ethernet port on your router or use another computer to make sure that your computer’s port is fine. Use another cable to check if the cable you are using aren’t faulty.

 

Entering incorrect IP address in your browser

You may be entering the wrong IP address of your router. Double check the IP address you enter. Default IP address can be found on the label of your router.

 

If you have change the IP address of your router and have forgotten it, press windows key + R and type cmd. Command prompt will open. Enter the command “ipconfig/all” and press enter. Look for the default gateway, that is what you should enter in the address bar of your browser.

If you are on a mac, click on the apple icon and then to System Preferences. Go to Network. You will see a Router field there. That is your router’s IP address.

 

Entering incorrect Username and Password

Make sure that the username and password you are entering are correct. Note that both of them are case sensitive. The default username and password can be found on the label on your router.

 

If you have forgotten your username and password, the only option you have now is to reset your router. Linksys Technical Support suggests you to write down your username and password somewhere safe as these are the only way you will be able to access your router’s configuration page.

 

Firewall blocking the configuration page

It is possible that the firewall of your computer is blocking your access to your router’s configuration page. Try to turn off your firewall once to see if you are now able to access it. Linksys Support do not recommend to turn off your firewall while using the internet as firewall protects your network from the unwanted stuff. Turn it off just for the testing purpose.

 

Browser issue

The browser you are using may not be able to support the configuration page for some reason. Try using different browser. Linksys Technical support recommends you to use google chrome.

 

Defective router

If none of this works, there is a high chance that your router is faulty. Try resetting your router to see if it helps. If it doesn’t, contact the Linksys Technical Support for the repair of the router.
