Connecting or Cascading Multiple Belkin Routers means to connect them to each other. This will help you to improve the performance of your network, expand your wireless network range and to connect more devices to your network.

There are two ways to connect two routers.

1.      LAN to LAN.
2.      LAN to WAN.

LAN to LAN:

This type of connection can be done by connecting two routers to each other via their Ethernet ports. Both routers should be on the same LAN IP. With this type of connection, devices connected to any of the router will be able to share the data with each other.

Follow steps below to configure your router for this type of connection:

1.      Connect the secondary router to your computer and enter the IP address of the secondary router in a web browser to access the setup page.
2.      Go to LAN Setup > LAN Settings.
3.      Enter the IP address same as your primary router in the IP Address field but change the value in the fourth box. Rest three values should be the same.
4.      Enter the Subnet Mask which should be the same for both routers.
5.      Turn off the DHCP server by selecting the off radio button.
6.      Click on Apply Changes button to save your settings.
7.      Now connect your secondary router to your primary router via Ethernet cable and power-cycle secondary router. After the power LED of the secondary router turns solid, internet connection should now work on the secondary router.

LAN to WAN:

This type of connection can be done by connecting the Ethernet port of the primary router with the internet port of secondary router. This type of connection will make it easy to know which computer is connected to which router but it will isolate two networks. Devices connected to primary router will not be able to share data with devices connected to secondary router and vice-versa.

Follow steps below to configure your router for this type of connection:

1.      Connect the secondary router to your computer and enter the IP address of the secondary router in a web browser to access the setup page.
2.      Go to LAN Setup > LAN Settings.
3.      Enter the IP address same as your primary router in the IP Address field but change the value in the third box. Rest three values should be the same.
4.      DHCP must be on for this type of connection to work.
5.      Now click on Apply Settings button to save your settings.
6.      Disconnect the router from the computer and connect primary router’s Ethernet cable to the internet port of the secondary router.
7.      Power-cycle the secondary router and internet should be working on the secondary router after the router’s power LED turns solid.
