How to release and renew the IP address of your Netgear router?

In order to release and renew the IP address you need to follow the Netgear tech support recommended steps correctly. The below steps should be followed as per the Operating Systems you use.

 

Mac OS X:

  1. Click the Apple menu at the top left corner of the desktop screen, then select System Preferences.
  2. Click on Network from the Internet & Network section.

 

  • For wired connection:

 

Click on Ethernet. The IP Address listed is your computer IP address and the Router is your router local IP address.

  • For wireless connection:
  1. Click Wi-Fi, then click Advanced.
  2. Click TCP/IP. The IPv4 Address listed is your computer IP address and the Router is your router local IP address.

Windows 8 and 8.1:

  • Click the Search icon on the Charms bar SEARCH.
  • Select Command Prompt.
  • Type ipconfig and press the Enter key. The IPv4 address listed is your computer IP address.

 

Windows 7:

  • On your computer keyboard, press and hold the Windows button and R keys to open the Run window.
  • Type cmd in the field and click OK.
  • Type ipconfig and press the Enter key. The IPv4 address listed is your computer IP address.

 

Windows 2000 and Windows XP:

  • Select Start > Run and type cmd. A command prompt window opens
  • Type ipconfig /release.
  • Type ipconfig /renew.
  • Close the command prompt window.

Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows NT:

  • Select Start > Run and type winipcfg.
  • Click Release in the IP Configuration window.
  • Click Renew in the IP Configuration window.
